A Rather Strange Bird...

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman? Nah, it's just Boris!

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, was taking part in an Olympics celebration in Victoria Park yesterday, where the London 2012 games are being shown on big screens.

Boris is always up for a publicity stunt and had agreed to be the first person to use 45-metre high, 320-metre long zip wire. He set off in the drizzling rain, wearing his trademark dark suit and clutching two Union Jack flags. But, as he reached the end of the line, the zip rebounded before running out of momentum about 30 feet above the ground.

So, instead of gliding gracefully across the park he was left dangling in mid-air, as gleeful crowds filmed him on their mobile phones. He spent the next few minutes cheering on Team GB athletes and encouraging tourists to visit London, before event staff eventually pulled him to safety.
