As a child I was always drawing, painting and making a mess with plasticine, scissors, paper and glue. My mother tried hard to discourage my creativity, and would cringe when as a 4 and 5 yr old I returned from school each Christmas clutching little trees made from pipe-cleaners and cotton reels, and snowmen made of jam jars wrapped in cotton wool. I still try to paint watercolours and love all sorts of crafts, but my main interest is in silversmithing and jewellery, and began at Art College in the late 1970'sNowadays my passion is creating one-off heirloom quality jewellery in lampwork glass, sterling silver and fine silver. I work from a little home studio, and hold various professional qualifications including a BA(Hons) and membership of the SRAJD, GoJD and ACJ. Most of my creations are bespoke commissions, although I also have a small selection for sale on Etsy, Not Mass Produced, and Gift Wrapped and Gorgeous websites. I find inspiration for my designs from many things, especially the natural world and the beautiful rural English countryside around our home
Barry is my soul mate and the love of my life, and he encourages me in everything I do. We share our Victorian farmhouse with Lucy, a lively young cocker spaniel. When not creating jewellery or working on my laptop, I'm usually out walking with Lucy, trying to improve my photography skills, playing the piano or making my organic lip balms. Whenever we can, we spend time together in the kitchen and the garden. We also love travelling, especially to remote parts of the world. But most of all we enjoy sharing food, wine and laughter with good friends. I know I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful home and caring husband, so I try to "give something back" by being actively involved with our village community and especially our beautiful 14th century church. I also donate my profits to charity
Thank you for stopping by and sharing a little of my world! Erika x
